The ESV, Wonderfully Gracing My Site
July 26 – I’m so happy I placed a daily RSS feed of the ESV Bible on my personal website. It sets the tone for all my other content. It’s sort of hard to be tempted to publish unbecoming material when God’s word is prominent just below my logo!
As night owl, I often notice the changeover in my verse at midnight. It makes a good end-of-day devotional. And because I constantly use my site as a “sandbox” for CSS, HTML, and design, I can watch my site evolve and always know I have a constant design element and theme – God’s word.My pastor, Timothy J. Keller, often uses the ESV when preaching. Below my feed, I’ve placed an audio player with a wonderful weekly sermon in MP3 format. I think I began to trust the ESV more when I noticed that, whenever he or other preachers say something like, “The original text is better translated as such-and-such,” I can check my ESV and find that “such-and-such” is more often than not the text I find.
I think there is a place for God’s word on just about any website. I would love to share and compare with other bloggers to find unique and truly useful ways to use The Holy Bible, English Standard Version
